Hi, Welcome to my site. My name is Ali Edwards, I am originally from the UK and lived there until I was 18 years of age, then my passion for dancing took me overseas to Japan. I have lived and experienced various countries over my life time, until finally settling here in Australia in 2010. Since arriving in Australia I have changed careers to become a counsellor whilst also utilising my creative passion.

 

I am a fully accredited counsellor with the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) (reg. 23037) a body which represents the most widely recognised quality standard for the experienced practitioner. I operate within the PACFA ethical framework and regularly participate in further personal and professional development training. 

 

I work with individuals, couples, families, students and groups. In addition to my private practice I work as a part-time teacher & course co-ordinator for TAFE working with youth at risk, teaching  life skills to disengaged teenagers and providing support in their transition to further education and work. I also work within the the HIV sector; counselling, running group workshops and psycho-education programs.

I am currently studying to become an Equine Assisted Health Practitioner and will graduate in September 2023. 

 

Prior to my career as a counsellor I was a professional dancer and choreographer as well as a business owner, running my own dance and fitness company in Singapore with much success. I have worked within the disability sector and as a case manager in youth homelessness. I bring to my work all my facets of knowledge and experience to create the diverse therapist I am today.

The Green Tree Frog was borne out of ideas of being an all round organisation that is not limited to just working with individuals but also to organisations in various sectors. I believe that my counselling training & skills need not limit me to working just with individuals or just in a 'therapeutic' concept but also in providing on going support and education to everyone.

 

I have many years experience in group facilitation and believe that workshops are a great way to bring people together and to share experiences..
